Description
Meeting Industry in Europe is the result of five years of LAMCI research and seeks to identify the critical factors for the success of European meeting venues with a capacity of at least 2,000 (in plenary session, in a theatre set up) in the main hall, covering the 34 countries in Western and Eastern Europe and in the Mediterranean Rim.
An index was created – City Meeting Facilities Index (CMFI) – to summarize the potential provision of venues for meetings and events in 128 European cities.
This index has been compared with another index – City Meeting Attractiveness Index (CMAI), specially created to make a synthesis of the socio-economic and tourist features of cities that are most important in the provision of meeting facilities – and with the number of international association events hosted by European cities in 2014 (as recorded by the International Congress and Convention Association). This shows which cities are best at exploiting their strengths in terms of the provision of meeting facilities – rather than in terms of the economic environment or the cultural and tourist offer – to attract international association events.
LAMCI - Research Lab on the International Meeting Industry is an initiative developed in Italy by ASERI, Graduate School of Economics and International Relations of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in collaboration with Fiera Milano Congressi
