Description
The tenth volume published by the University Centre for International Solidarity in the 'Quaderni del CeSI' series
collects the points of view of the different partners which worked together on the project "The 'Community Outreach' as a model to serve women of the slum in the urban area of Kampala", funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The project, started in January 2021, aimed at proposing
an innovative model, fully in line with the social, economic, and health conditions of the beneficiary communities of Kireka and Kisenyi slums in Kampala, Uganda. Between September 2021 and October 2022, four Community Outreaches were organized to fight against the spread of tuberculosis, malaria, HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. 2462 people, of whom 2078 were women, attended the outreaches. Purpose of this volume is to
share the best practices implemented in the project, to offer a contribution to the reflection on how to constantly improve the ways in which the world of international development cooperation tries to fulfill the needs and the aspirations of those living in the so-called Global South; the volume also serves to
stimulate discussion on the contribution that the universities can offer to the development cooperation.
